A Merry little Christmas

Hey Everyone! I have a quick share today.. I was having a little trouble coming up with a workshop card for this month, and it dawned on me that I had a workshop card all precut and ready for me.. Cha-ching! Love it when my brain decides to cooperate with me.. :) I had the Merry little Christmas Simply Created Card kit that I won on Prize Patrol way back when at this years convention.. :) Now the kit makes eight, and I didn't want to break up the kit for a sample, so I came up with an alternate sample to show and share. Here is my card -

I added a couple of layers and some bling, and will be adding the same to the precut cards in the kit.. Thanks SU! this kit is perfect for a workshop, and when you are a little short on time. OK, gotta run, thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Wonderful Wreath Thanks

Hey Everyone! Yep.. it's lil' ol' me again..! Whoop! I love getting things done! I have another card to share today! :) I am trying to get some thanksgiving cards done and in the mail before the time gets away from me... seems to be my MO as of late, and I am determined to change that. :) I had the Wonderful Wreath al a carte' stamp on my desk, and decided to use it to make a thanksgiving card.. so with that said I am sure it could be used for a variety of occasions, not just Christmas. :) Here is my card -

Inspiration is from the Case Study blog.. Lots going on here, but it's all good. I colored my Wreath with direct to stamp technique with various SU markers, stamped the image,  then cut out the inside of the wreath. I did the outside second so the paper was more sturdy and I had more to hold. I cut some of the Burlap ribbon in half, frayed it, and used the frayed fibers to add a bow to my button. Love the fun texture of the frayed pieces.. :) OK. that's it for me today, Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek!

Easel Thanks

Hey Everyone!! I know it is late in the day for me to be posting, but I have actually been downstairs for the majority of the day today.. WHOOP! It sure feels good! I have to say to admit too, that I think that my mojo was MIA for a while, and I was getting ready to send out a recon team...*wink* So, with that said, I have a card to share today. I have club this weekend, and wanted to do something a little special with them, considering I will not be seeing them again until January. I decided to make an easel card with them.. I have never done one myself, so today was the day. :)

I took inspiration from Stampin' Success our demonstrator publication. I used the stamp set Harvest of Thanks for the outside of the card, and combined it with a stamp from the set Oh, Hello to complete my sentiment. The DSP is called Sweater Weather, and can be found in the Holiday mini catalog. I am so glad I remembered that I even had it.. It is just perfect for the thanksgiving holiday, and will certainly come in handy for those masculine birthdays down the line. :) OK, I am off to get the kiddos lunches made for tomorrow.. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Merry and Mollie

Hey Everyone! I have been away again..Life has been getting in the way of my play time again. Getting inky down here has been on the fore front of my mind.. but some things have been getting in my way. About a month ago, my time became very busy with two little kittens, and some well invested time at the gym. I have really gone headstrong into getting stronger and hopefully ridding my body of the ever present pain in my back. Soon I will find the balance of work and fun.. so thank you for hanging in there with me. :) OK.. enough yada yada, and lets get to the good stuff.. right?

I had some time over the weekend to sneak in a card made with one of SU's single holiday stamps that are available right now. Here is my card -

The stamp is appropriately called Be Merry. :) I also used some paper from the Season of style DSP
stack... Love!! Can't wait to use more..:)

Little Town Blessings

Hey Everyone! Remember me? I am sorry that I have been away for awhile... Life got in the way.. I have been Super busy with two new kittens, that were born feral and abandoned by their Momma. My youngest, Ian, heard of them at school from a close friend, had to see them and make sure they were OK. He has a really big heart, and knows his Momma has an even bigger heart for Babies.. Long story short, I am now a proud momma to sweet little kittens named Maggie and Mollie. Here is a picture of Maggie -

Mollie is still a bit camera shy... :) But anyhoo, that is what I have been up to. I hope you understand. :)
I do have some crafty goodness to share too! I had a chance to play this morning, after being awakened by little paws on my face.. :)
I played with one of the new photo polymer sets called Greetings From, and was inspired to make a Christmas card.

The set is so cute..  I absolutely LOVE every single image in the set. :) I created my background using my "E" block with Night of Navy ink. I tore some post it notes and masked off the area of the background that I want to add sand to. Next I stamped the images on scraps, colored them, and then popped them up to create my little town of Bethlehem. I punched my large star, and some clouds made with the cupcake builder punch, then added the Christmas blessing sentiment. I love it! I hope you do too! OK... I am off to play a little more. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek! :)

Happy Day

Hey Everyone.. :) I have another card to share today made with the Best of Autumn set from SU. This one is made with the little fall tree from the set.. I can not believe that I passed up on original set, Tree for all Seasons, when it was in the catalog.. It's not like I didn't have a chance either, it was available for what seemed like forever.. And why wouldn't be.. it is SO cute. So forgive me if these images are old to you, they are so new and fresh for me. :) I paired my tree with another stamp from another best of set, Best of Greetings.. LOVE! Here is my card -

So Fun! I just love that little rake leaning up against the tree.. I made my leaves for the tree in different colors, Cherry Cobbler, Tangerine tango, and Crushed Curry. My sentiment was stamped in Versamark onto Crushed Curry card stock, then heat embossed with white EP, then cut out. I paired it with a few punched "clouds" made with the XL builder cupcake punch. I really like the outcome, and hopefully you do too! :) OK, Off to get the kiddos packed for a weekend of Camping.. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

I knew this was a must have set considering I missed all of these images when they were released within their original sets. Here is my card -

I simply stamped the harvested pumpkin image onto several different colored scraps in black ink, cut out a portion, then pieced them onto the stamped image on the Summer Starfruit panel. Added a little Linen thread and a button for detail, and sentiment. LOVE! OK, off to get some chores done before the kiddos are home from school. :) Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Birthday Fishes

Hey Everyone.... I have a quick post this evening... thought I would sneak in here before dinner is done on the stove.. :) I have a Birthday card to share today. My beautiful step-daughter, Cassidy, is going to be 18 next week, so I needed a special card that is "her". She has an amazing sense of humor, so why not make her a punny card -

I started with the single stamp Fishin' Around from the main catalog, added a cupcake from the Best of Birthdays set, and pieced together a sentiment from Remembering your Birthday, and the Designer Typeset photo polymer set. It took a while to get it all colored and make the little birthday hats from Strawberry slush DSP... totally worth it cause.. I know she is going to love it! OK, got to get back to getting dinner ready.. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek! :)

Heather

P.S. - I have to apologize for those little oily gray marks on the whisper white panel.. They are not on the card IRL, but show up on the photo... Weird??

A Batty hello

Hello Everyone... I hope everyone is staying cool today.. Here in Chicagoland it's supposed to reach 100 degrees... Phew! If that isn't a reason to stay inside and get a little crafty, I don't know what is! *wink* Well,....I took my own advice, and got creative with the set Halloween Hello from the current holiday catalog. I kept things real simple again -

Just paper, ink, and some black glitter too. I put some black glitter on my little bat, just can't see it real well in the picture.. Sorry. My moon was made by reverse masking. I punched a circle out of a scrap, and then placed it where I wanted it, then sponged Gumball Green ink in the circle. LOVE! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Grateful, Paper and Ink

Hey Everyone,.. I am working late tonight, and decided to take a break and share another one of our club cards for this month. I like to give the ladies a variety of styles during our club meetings. Here is our second card for this months gathering -

This card is almost one layer except for the sentiment. This is probably my most favorite style of stamping, clean and simple..But if I kept it to just paper and ink, WHAT would  I do with everything I am always saying I "absolutely need"... *wink* OK, that's it for me, back to work.. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Cantaloupe Love

Hey Everyone.. :) It's been awhile, and I have missed you, so I hunkered down today and decided I need to play with some stuff from the holiday catalog. I also haven't really touched any of the new in colors for this year... Got my work cut out for me right? Well here is my creation for today -

I used the new Expressions thinlits dies, and some new papers, Smokey Slate, and Crisp Cantaloupe.
If you look close, I used the Oh, Goodie! too, just hard to see in this picture. I wanted the Smokey Slate "Love" to stand out a little more than the white ones, so I die cut three of them and glued them together.. Really made a difference.. OK, I am going to try to get another sample done, so I can come back tomorrow... :) Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

updates....

Hey Everyone...:) Just letting you know what's been up these past weeks... As you know I attended the SU Convention, and came back with lots of ideas. I have been trying to implement some, and get crafty too, but there are only so many hours in the day. :) While I was away, my boys were also away So.. this left the opportunity for my Darling husband to start and hopefully finish a small kitchen revamp..Starting projects is easy, but sometimes finishing them can be a little tricky when under time constraints....but it's all good, and finally done..

Here is the before -

and the after -

I know it doesn't seem like much, but we are happy all the same. It was a definite DIY learning experience for both of us. OK.. I promise I will be back soon with some paper crafty goodness, Thanks for taking a peek! :)

Forever & Always

Hello Everyone! I am still sharing my entries for Artisan this week. I hope you are still reading and not getting to bored.. Just Kidding.. :) In yesterdays post I hinted that I would be sharing a scrap page today..I have to say this scrap page has to be my ALL time fave page I have ever created. I know I may have said that in the past, but this one trumps those.. really...!! My subject matter in the past has always been my kiddos, or sweet husband, and has been of pictures that I have snapped of them over the years. I have, or rarely have scrapped pictures from my past, or even further back, before I was even a twinkle in my Fathers eye. :) It seems even more daunting than scrapping altogether. So needless to say I scrapped some vintage pictures of someone I miss very much, my Dad...

and a close up -

This is a page that I will never tire of gazing upon, and will be recreating it for myself to frame. This page just sums up what my Dad was, and I will always remember that "a loving heart is the truest of wisdom." Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek! (Squishy Hugs!!)

Playing dress up

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a restful weekend.. I was under the weather, so I am glad to be back downstairs. I have yet another Artisan entry to show you. If you hadn't noticed yet, my entries kind of had a theme of a tea party right? Well you can't attend a tea party with out the proper attire or tea service -

I found my dress up items at the $1 spot at target.. I simply added some ribbon and a crepe paper flower to the Easter hat, and some of the Lace found in the Artisan embellishment pack to the gloves. for extra detail I added the 5/8 flower trim, and a ring made out of the designer builder brads from the last spring mini catalog. I also made a broach to add to my strand of pearls. which so happen to match the necklace on my invitation. :)

The Tea set is perfect for a play date tea party too! I used the Tea for Two Designer fabric to make some little tea bags, and stamped the sentiment "you suit me to a tea" from the set Tea Shoppe onto Canvas Creations for the tea tag. I then added some simple embellishments to the tea pot itself, making a tag, and adding some basic pearls to the lid, and adding the label to the front. I stamped the White Peony tea Shoppe image onto crepe paper in stazon, then flipped it over to color it, then glued it on with some crystal effects thinned with some water. :)
That is all for my 3D projects too, onto scrapbook pages tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek! :)

Oh, Hello? You're Invited

Hello Everyone...It is coming up on that time of year again for the SU Convention in Salt Lake City. It also means that there will be another round of the Artisan Award Contest. This year I decided to enter again to push myself alittle and see if I could achieve the ranks one more time. Well, the calls went out late last week, and unfortunately it was not in the stars this year. C'est la vie.. So,.. what not a better time to share those creations here with you. :)

My first to share with you is an invitation for a high tea party -

I used papers and embellishments that were from this past spring catalog. I loved the Tea Shoppe set and pretty DSP that coordinated with it. I used the set Oh, Hello for the "You're Invited"sentiment, which if you hadn't already noticed, carried over into the new main catalog. Love! :)
I have lots more to share, so stop by again soon. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Some Joy and Cheer

Hey Everyone! I have a card to share today that was from my time as a Dirty Dozen on Splitcoaststampers. Enough time has passed that I can share these creations here on Downstairs Designs. I Loved my time on the team, and put my heart into every creation, and wanted to share one more time. :)

I realize it is the first day of Summer on the calendar, so bear with me when I show you a Christmas card.. Maybe it will put you in a cooler frame of mind. :) Here is the card -

While being on the Design Team it allowed me to use all kinds of retired papers that are in my stash. So this paper may bring back some memories and.. prompt you to use some of it that you may have hiding in your stash too. *wink* Now there are some current products used to, so don't worry, if you have some of that paper, the card stock and alphabet are still readily available. :)
OK, that's it for me today... gotta hit the road to pick up a kiddo away at Summer Camp! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!
